We've provided many photos so you can have a closer look. As you can see, with few bumps and bruises it is also a very nice looking players guitar. It appears to have had at one time a locking nut at the top of the neck and possibly a midi-pickup. Brass-brads have replaced the screws to give it a cleaner more smooth and elegant finish. The PF400 is top of the Performer Series product line for Ibanez in 1978. You won't see many because there aren't many and most owners don't seem to dare part with theirs (same with Custom Agents). Sure, you'll come across the lesser PF200's and occasionally the even lesser-lesser 100's both with bolt on necks and dum'd down features. And we're not saying 'steer clear' cause those can be okay on the cheap but, spend a tiny bit more and you will be SO much happier and have much more peace of mind in the long run...its just all around better. Better wood, higher craftsmanship, more features. Compare specs of this one with a PF100 at the bottom of this page.

Super 70's Pickups - All Performer Series guitars feature the famous Ibanez Super 70 pickups. Super 70's are loud, clean and rich in harmonics and offer you a sound and versatility not found in other humbuckings. The 3-point height adjustment of the mounting ring allows you to set the pickup exactly parallel to the strings for the best response.

Custom Taper Pots: The pickups are controlled by Ibanez custom taper potentiometers for smooth, even response and precise control. The taper of these pots is precisely calculated to the roll-off curve of guitar pickups. There is no standard available potentiometer than can match their performance.

Sure-Grip Knobs: The Ibanez Sure-Grip knobs feature a special contour and a ribbed rubber insert for no-slip performance even the going gets hot and sweaty. Most guitar knobs are either too large or too small, but the Sure-Grip knobs are "human engineered" to the most comfortable size for most players.

Solid Construction: The PF400 is constructed of the finest guitar making woods available anywhere. The solid mahogany body is set off with a book-matched solid maple carved top. Combined with the rock maple neck, this construction gives you the best sustain and brilliance with a full and warm tone.

Ibanez Tri-Sound: Among the other many fine features of the PF400 is the special design Super 70 Tri-Sound pickup mounted in the fingerboard position. Controlled by a mini three position switch, this pickup can be used as either a standard humbucking, single coil, or reverse phased twin coil pickup. This added versatility pots a world of tones right at your fingertips.

At the top of the line...the PF400 gives you more features, finer craftsmanship, and better design than other instruments costing hundreds of dollars more.
